8 Reasons Your Business Needs an Email List

It really doesn’t matter what small business you have there is one asset in online marketing you shouldn't be overlook any longer: your email list. 💌

Don’t have one? If you’re not into chasing algorithms, emails are a way better option for those of us who don’t want to chase social media trends. Here's why:

1. Your newsletter creates a direct line to your people

Unlike social media, where algorithms decide if your content gets seen and ROI is trash,  emails land directly into your subscribers' inboxes. It’s Personal, direct, and usually way more effective at relationship building. It’s a behind-the-scenes, special offer, hair up in a bun no fuss communication to the people who actually want to hear from you and keep tabs on your offers.

2. Your email list will help you build authentic relationships

Sending regular emails isn't about pushing your products, offers and sales on repeat. That’s actually how not to do it. like I mentioned above, it’s more about sharing stories, updates, and actionable, bite sized value nuggets.

Over time, these authentic interactions build trust.

And guess what? People do business with those they trust.

3. Your email list is yours

Social media platforms come and go. (we all remember myspace and are thankful it’s contents are gone) But an email list? It's yours. No sudden changes in algorithms, no unpredictable variables or shutdowns. ( I mean, unless the whole grid goes down but nevermind) Just a list of people genuinely interested in what you offer especially since they have opted in with your freebies, offers or services.

4. Your email list efforts will skyrocket your ROI

For every dollar spent on email marketing, the average return is a whopping $42! That's an ROI that is incredibly hard to beat. For most small businesses and solopreneurs, this is an absolute game-changer. Especially for those that really don’t have or want a social media presence for their business. Once a relationship is established with your subscribers,  a quick email of your offerings, can generate many sales or inquiries at once.

5. You can create tailored conversations

With segmentation, your established clients can receive your latest tips, tricks and updates while your warm leads get more insights on your services, mentorship or products. Tailoring content means resonating messages with the right audience at the right time.

6. Your email opt-ins create warm leads

People who opt-in for your emails are already interested in your offerings and services. They’re not just random people scrolling the abyss of instagram; they're potential clients, collaborators, or customers who want to hear what you have to say and share. Nurture these leads and keep a steady flow of people flowing through your offer pipeline.

7. Your Newsletter keeps business momentum going

Regularly sliding into inboxes keeps you top-of-mind. Next time someone needs a consultant, coach or a hand-painted gift for a friend, guess who they’ll think of? Yep, you! The person who's been sharing valuable insights and stories, and new creations in their inbox.

I’ve gotten many referrals from the sweet people on my list, who maybe haven’t been ready for my services themselves but knew someone who was- the power of creating connection and staying top of mind!

8. Your email list will help you create a Feedback Loop

Engaging with your email subscribers gives invaluable feedback right from the source. Run a survey, ask for opinions, or simply encourage replies to your emails. It's a goldmine of insights and can help you see gaps in your services, or in the knowledge that you share.

A Little Nudge Towards Starting

If you've read this far, you probably see the value of creating and maintaining an email list. But maybe there’s a tiny voice whispering, "But I don’t know how to start." Don’t panic! Setting up an email list is more straightforward than it sounds. Platforms like Mailerlite, Mailchimp, ConvertKit, and Flodesk have made it super easy.
